As of 2020 there are 53 million family caregivers in the United States who care for disabled, chronically ill or elderly loved ones. These unpaid caregivers often juggle additional duties as parents, spouses, employees, business owners, students and more. The compounded burden has negative impact on the caregivers’ physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health that are ringing alarm bells among mental health practitioners and other health care professionals as well as community-based leaders and advocates.
With 1 in 5 American adults providing unpaid care to a loved one- on average providing a minimum of 40 hours of care per week- most, if not all social workers, interact directly or indirectly with a family caregiver. It is imperative for you to know the dynamics and impact of this type of caregiving so we can develop, implement, and advocate for the most effective interventions, solutions, and policies.
In this live, interactive webinar, we will discuss the current status of family caregiving and explore actionable strategies for micro, mezzo, and macro level interventions to ensure caregiver wellness.
